Delta-8: Is it Helpful for your Health?

Delta 8 Hemp for Health

Delta-8: Sinful or Helpful for your Health?

Most people in the United States have not heard of Delta-8. It is, however, becoming a very popular cannabis product in hemp/CBD stores across the country where they are legal. The people who appreciate the advent of Delta-8 in the marketplace are growing in number. The people who decry the use of anything cannabis are becoming more vocal.

What is Delta-8?

We will start here with what Delta-8 is NOT. It is not Delta-9. Both are forms of tetrahydrocannabinol. Delta-8 is an analogue of Delta-9. As you may know, D9 is an illegal cannabinoid at the Federal level across the country. Even though it is illegal in the United States and a Schedule 1 drug (why it still is classified as Sched 1 is beyond us), it is legal of adult use in many States already. Delta-8, however, when it is derived from Industrial Hemp, is legal in the United States

Since Delta-8 products are similar to Delta-9 but not the same there are notable differences in how Delta-8 affects people as compared to Delta-9.

How can Delta-8 be Used?

So far, we have experienced most our customers seek out Delta-8 products specifically for sleep. People consistently claim CBD AND Delta-8 have helped improve their length of sleep and quality of sleep.

Many people have discovered better sleep using cannabinoids. For those with modest sleep issues, such as occasional sleeplessness or anxiety which causes sleep to be more erratic, modest doses of CBD have been helpful to relieve the discomfort from stress and anxiety and this helps people ease into better sleep. When the discomfort is higher from more sleeplessness or higher anxiety, customer are using a combination of CBD and Delta-8. This drastically improves the level of anxiety and discomfort and helps boost sleep outcomes.

The following statistics from the Sleep Association help underscore the need for more natural options with lack of sleep issues.

discomfort from knee pain
Sleep may be much better with the aid of CBD

Sleep Deprivation Statistics:

37% of 20-39 year-olds report short sleep duration

40% of 40-59 year-olds report short sleep duration

35.3% adults report <7 hours of sleep during a typical 24-hour period.

Delta-8 and its analgesic properties are very useful to consumers who face persistent pain and do not wish to engage opiates for pain relief. Not only does the Delta-8 require a prescription to consumer, it also does not suffer the same limitations at opiates as far as over-dose levels. The risk of death from overdose with opiates used for pain is far greater than with cannabinoids. In fact, there have been no documented direct deaths from consumption of Delta-8 products. This is a significant reason why so many people are switching from prescription opiates to cannabis products.

There are other benefits claimed for Delta-8 which include anti-emetic qualities, appetite suppression (orexigenic) and neuroprotective behavior.

The US Farm Bill (2018) and Legal Cannabinoids

Since 2018, Industrial Hemp processors have been allowed to produce cannabinoid products from Industrial Hemp as it the content of Delta-9 THC does not exceed 0.3% (by dwt). This means more minor cannabinoids such as the Delta-8

US Farm Bill 2018 industrial hemp

Since all legal Delta-8 is derived from Hemp plants, it bypasses the stipulation of any THC being derived from marijuana plants (which, by reasonable definition, is still cannabis sativa, the very same plant that produces Industrial Hemp).

The Sinful Nature of Delta-8 and your Health

Cannabis naysayers are quick to describe the evils of the psychoactive behaviors of cannabinoids. Even though there are relatively few cannabinoids that actually have psychoactive properties, those who are against all things cannabis use the few friends of THC as examples of compounds that are destined to destroy our civilization – or something like that.

When it comes to pharmaceutical products, most firms will reference a list of “side effects” when the side effects are actually more of “direct effects”. With Cannabis products, we try to educate our customers across the spectrum of direct effects and health impacts of cannabinoids.

One common direct effect of Delta-8, much like other THC brethren, is the dry mouth. This is why we typically recommend to Delta-8 consumers to hydrate well. Additionally, even though the incidence appears to be far less than that associated with Delta-9, there are people who experience bouts of paranoia with Delta-8. Linked closely to this is the possibility of increased anxiety rather than decreased as you’d expect in the more modest cannabinoids such as CBD.

Cannabidiol (CBD) does not have any psychoactive properties. Most of the opponents of cannabis products still do not support the use of CBD as a curative or beneficial compound. Numerous studies and hoards of anecdotal testimony suggest that CBD along with many other cannabinoids are still exceptional targets for more in-depth testing and research into overall efficacy and impact on human health. Delta-8, like Delta-9, is in the same group: Does the collection of benefits (which is significant) outweigh the psychoactive nature of THC compounds?

The Helpful Nature of Delta-8 and your Health

Recreational and medical fans of Delta-8 are quick to report that the direct effects of larger doses of Delta-8 include the mild euphoria, uplifted mindset, happiness, and relief from the discomfort of pain, aches and other troubling conditions. When taken within two hours of intended sleep, most consumers are satisfied with the improved sleep they experience without the same drowsy impact of some OTC medications and pharmaceuticals.

As the Delta-8 compound does bind with the CB1 and CB2 receptors (perhaps not as energetically as regular Delta-9), it is believed that it is also a key agent in improving cancer treatment outcomes. This is important as more studies into the medical impact of botanical agents such as CBD, THC and Delta-8 are still vital to help settle the ongoing dispute as to whether Cannabis should be considered an herb, a medicine, or a drug.

What is the Best Way to enjoy Delta-8?

Full Service cannabis stores in States across the country are able to offer Delta-8 alongside other cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG, CBC, and more – all as long as they are derived from Industrial Hemp and compliant with the 2018 Farm Bill.

When Delta-8 products started breaking into the popular culture, it did so in the States more energetically where Delta-9 was illegal. Therefore, States such as North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia embraced the delta-8 products being developed. Vape cartridges and edibles were the first big categories to embrace the Delta-8 distillates.

A fair representation of users of CBD vape products learned that combining the CBD vape sessions with occasional Delta-8 sessions may help ease anxiety and help promote relaxation more than just one of the cannabinoids used as a solo treatment.

This same discovery has applied to the hemp edibles crowd who have enjoyed more relaxation thanks to CBD’s calming impact for anxiety. When a small amount of Delta-8 is introduced, such as under 10mg, the CBD appears to be boosted while overall relaxation improves without introducing a “high” feeling.

Experiencing Delta-8 Products at Carolina Hemp Hut

Delta-8 products started growing in popularity in late Summer 2020. During the COVID-19 concerns for immune health, people were experiencing higher than typical levels of anxiety. Limited sleep, irritability and other symptoms were also presenting more commonly. Our stores saw far more online orders (for safety reasons) of our wide array of CBD/Hemp edibles and vape products for the negative health impacts from the pandemic. As the Delta-8 products moved from a “suspicious” product to a “go to” product for the discomfort people were facing, it grew rapidly in popularity.

Some weeks, the Delta-8 sales of products such as Edibles, Vapes, Infused Flower, and topicals exceed the popularity of the benchmark CBD products. When polled, most customers reveal that the goal of consuming Delta-8 is NOT the high, but relief from three key issues:

  • Sleeplessness/Insomnia
  • High Anxiety
  • Body Aches/Pains
Vegan and Organic CBD rich gummy bears - edibles- from Sun State Hemp and Carolina Hemp Hut

When customers seek products for relief of the above bullets of discomfort, we always explain the differences in the two cannabinoids CBD and Delta-8 as well as provide a direct warning as to the possibility of some psychoactive impact with larger doses of Delta-8.

We are encouraged that most consumers are seeking relief from discomfort rather than a “high”. We, as a team, work to eliminate the stereotypes of cannabis that have evolved from years of government embargo on natural medicines (from cannabis). Our goals include educating consumers on ALL available cannabinoids to permit not only broader acceptance of botanical solutions, but to dispel the many myths associated with cannabis as a plant and product.

Some last thoughts on Delta-8 and You

It is key to mention that the level of medical and scientific research with regard to Delta-8 and a host of other cannabinoids is still lacking. Government funding is nearly non-existent. Big Pharma, except for GW (who is attempting to corner the market on all things cannabis it would seem), is resistant to adopting cannabis compounds in their drug therapies at this time, but more are considering it.

More testing, both anecdotal and clinical, will help determine the overall strength of safe doses, the impact on the body and brain, and possible drug interactions. Much like any other cannabis product or cannabinoids (such as the cannabinoids in Echinacea), your body’s own chemistry and metabolic action will have an impact on your overall dosing and health impact.

Duke Faculty Chooses CBD

Duke University professor enjoys Carolina Hemp Hut THC-free CBD products

When it comes to aches and pains as we age, many of us are accustomed to simply attempting to shrug it off and dealing with it. You simply do not have to do this! At the Carolina Hemp Hut, we work to introduce people to more natural and simpler methods to assist in improving your level of comfort.

Duke Professor with Aches and Pains

A Duke University professor who lives near Durham Academy in Colony Park neighborhood of Durham ventured into the Carolina Hemp Hut – Durham location this past week to explore options for muscle and joint discomfort from gardening and occasional tennis. She was concerned about THC in the product due to possible drug testing. She was able to consult with one of our trained Cannabis Consultants and learned of several ways to ease the discomfort she was facing nearly daily. When this Duke Faculty member Chooses CBD, she chooses a Broad Spectrum muscle rub from Kalki, available at the Hut.

Cannabis, specifically Hemp, has a track record of providing relief of discomfort for many over the ages. It has been used since before recorded history as a natural medicine. Until recently, it was more of a mystery as to why it helped people. It was not until the 20th century that researchers discovered the more significant botanical compounds such as Delta-9 THC and Cannabidiol (CBD). The discoveries have led more researchers to dedicate more resources to determining more beneficial aspects available from the cannabis family.

Since the medicinal compound of Delta-9 THC is also a psychoactive ingredient within cannabis, many people are concerned since the Federal government banned the use of cannabis. Many are also concerned about whether they will face issues at work or from law enforcement for buying Hemp products.

In 2018, the US Farm Bill made the cultivation, distribution, and sale of Hemp products legal. Now that CBD and other hemp-derived compounds and products are available at stores such as the Carolina Hemp Hut, people can find over-the-counter solutions.

Customers such as the esteemed Duke professor are often presented with an array of cannabis product options which have anecdotal support and related medical research. Most typically, products that are useful for addressing the discomfort as described above from aging and activity include:

    • Balms, Salves, Lotions, and Ointments (topical products)
    • Drops or Tinctures (sublingual products)
    • Gummies, edibles, and capsules (oral products)

I never knew I would be able to find something to help me stop my sciatica pain without Oxycodone or Gabapentin being involved. I started taking Hemp Oil [sic} from the Durham CBD Hut [Carolina Hemp Hut] and found I only had a little pain left. I was happy to find an inexpensive natural solution to pharmaceutical products.

J. Ingraham, Durham, NC

When customers desire the most direct benefit, we have discovered that people prefer to use the topical products if the pain and aches are on their extremities or back/shoulders. When the discomfort is originating from inflammation such as arthritis or other conditions, then the sublingual or oral routes are preferred.

Since the Carolina Hemp Hut stores provide a larger variety of each of these product categories that most stores in the State of North Carolina, we can provide a range of options for them that allow for better affordability with consideration of premium quality brands, natural ingredients, and strength (in milligrams) or size of product. Our customers are given the needed education to assist them in making the most informed decisions for their hemp health.

Bona Vida Hemp Body Butter with Full Spectrum CBD
Premium Bona Vida Hemp™ Body Butter

For those customers wishing to steer clear of Delta-9 THC, we offer wonderful THC-Free products from various manufacturers such as Hemplucid’s Kalki, CBD Infusionz, Canna River, and Bona Vida Hemp. These products are made from Isolated CBD instead of the full spectrum hemp extracts that are used in so many other products. This allows for the fine benefits of naturally occurring CBD (cannabidiol) without the worry of Delta-9 THC. If you have concerns over drug-testing for THC, it is still a good idea to avoid all forms of Cannabis, even those with zero THC. This is simply because urinalysis tests as opposed to blood tests are more apt to show incorrectly that you are a consumer of illicit drugs when you may not be at all.

The Duke University students and faculty who visit the Carolina Hemp Hut store on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard (15/501) have already learned many of the products offered by the team and appreciate the wide selection.

Two enterprising students at Duke University convinced the marketing team at Carolina Hemp Hut to create a special discount code for students and faculty for online orders. The promo code was designed to be only for those “in the know” at Duke. One of the students told their professor about the “secret discount” and they visited the Durham Carolina Hemp Hut store.

Thanks to the Duke students, another professor engaged the CBD Consultant on duty to discuss his back pain. The enterprising professor was able to pick up a jar of soothing salve from Hemp Adaptives™ which may be the best natural reliever of discomfort for back pain. Again, Duke faculty chooses CBD from Carolina Hemp Hut.

When addressing pains and and aches, CBD may be an answer to the discomfort you feel. Whether you have discomfort from Anxiety or from Pain and Aches, you may be able to match topical CBD, ingestible CBD (such as Full Spectrum CBD edibles), Capsules, and the mainstay from the land of CBD, drops.

The population of Duke Faculty members and students visiting Carolina Hemp Hut is significant. Maybe there is a reason they bypass grocery stores and vape stores with CBD and each chooses CBD from the Hut instead.

When it comes to investigating products for your health concerns with the aid of botanical products, the team at each of the Carolina Hemp Hut stores is prepared and educated in the spectrum of cannabinoid products available. When you’re driving down Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard (15/501) in Durham, it is a good idea to stop by the Hut for a preview of some of our wonderful products. Our shop is not far from the Durham Academy campus and Duke University. You’ll be impressed with the enormous selection.

CBD Has Gone to the Dogs

CBD for Pets

Researchers have finally executed a strong study on the efficacy of CBD (cannabidiol) on Canines. Previously, the studies and the vast amount of anecdotal evidence supporting cannabinoid (derived from the industrial hemp plant) health in pets was limited.  The study, published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science, detailed canine testing with Osteoarthritis. Essentially, like humans, there is Arthritis in Dogs but is there a way to improve their health with CBD? In the recent study, the dogs were tested to see whether CBD would aid in the lessening of discomfort and inflammation of canines.

Dogs and Humans get osteoarthritis. If you’ve heard of it before, but aren’t quite sure what it is, the good people at the Mayo Clinic describe “Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people worldwide. It occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones wears down over time. Although osteoarthritis can damage any joint, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, knees, hips and spine.” With dogs, it’s very similar. Keep in mind that it is a degenerative joint disease. It results in chronic joint inflammation, and in many cases, pain and discomfort, that can potentially be crippling to a dog.

Arthritis in Dogs: Your Trusted Pet

If your favorite canine friend has been recently diagnosed with arthritis, then you may have better hope thanks to the light shed on the new canine arthritis ECS (endocannabinoid system study). Even if you’re hoping to prevent or significantly daily your pet’s possible fight with the inflammation and discomfort from arthritis, knowing more about natural health opportunities.

As pet owners, we often look to the expertise of veterinarians to keep our canine family members safe and healthy. Many veterinarians are not current with new and existing research on Cannabinoids and canine health. Those animal health practitioners who stay abreast of both natural and pharmacological support for better health are more likely to provide more detailed advice on pet health as associated with cannabinoids. With many veterinarians, they’ll continue the thread of “there’s just not enough research out there to warrant giving your pet cannabinoids or CBD” simply because it removes them from the liability of recommending CBD for any treatment. This is why it’s very beneficial to do your own homework with regard to the health and care for your pets PLUS speak to your trusted vet. This way you can compare what you’ve learned to what you’re hearing and you’re able to ask far more educated questions.

The study in question, “Pharmacokinetics, Safety, and Clinical Efficacy of Cannabidiol Treatment in Osteoarthritic Dogs”, offers showed a significant decrease in pain and increase in activity with CBD oil. This study followed on a well-cited earlier pilot study, “Characterization of endocannabinoids and related acylethanolamides in the synovial fluid of dogs with osteoarthritis”. In both studies, it was shown that the introduction of relatively small doses of CBD to a dog results in both significant improvement of health disposition. One key point made in both studies: Compelling evidence suggests an active role of the Endocannabinoid System in the treatment of Osteoarthritis in dogs.

We read through the recent study and compared their recommendations to earlier studies. It’s notable that a larger selection of ECS and Canine Health have become available in recent years as the overall interest in hemp has increased as more anecdotal evidence has been presented. Earlier recommendation on dosing pets CBD have been varied but the average seems to be about a dose of 2 mg/kg of CBD twice daily can help increase comfort and activity in dogs with osteoarthritis. If you’re worried about your 15 lb pet Fox Terrier, then you’d dose your pup 13.6mg two times a day. This dosing was shown to boost the overall health significantly.

These recommended levels have been offered by many veterinarians who have adapted the phytocanabinoid supplementation for dogs. Many veterinarians recommend either a brand sold by the practice or one which they have a linkage to – for example, a brand carried by a nearby pharmacy. In most cases, this is a solid recommendation and the product presented by the veterinarian not only would be helpful for the canine in questions, but it’s likely the easiest product to locate for the consumer. When a product recommendation is received, well-established and trusted Hemp resources like the Carolina Hemp Hut can provide high impact and often less expensive alternatives or perhaps even the exact products (at less expense) that are recommended by veterinarians. We’re on your side when it’s time to fight the discomfort associated with Arthritis in Dogswith your family pet.

The recent study was sponsored by a grant from a cannabinoid manufacturer, ElleVet Sciences, of Portland, Maine. The study referenced the collection of supporting anecdotal evidence that there is definitely a linkage with Hemp/CBD to better joint health.

Carolina Hemp Hut Selected as Best of Chapel Hill 2020

Best of Chapel Hill - Chapel Hill Magazine

In a recent survey, readers of the oft-cited Chapel Hill Magazine declared their love for Carolina Hemp Hut (Hillsborough) as the Best New Business.

The entire team at the Carolina Hemp Hut store is excited that their hard work is being recognized by members of the community and among fellow retailers. “The Hemp space is tough, especially since there is such a negative initial image of anything coming from Cannabis” said Mary Lopez Carter, the founder of the Carolina Hemp Hut stores in a recent follow up phone conversation. “People still come into our store in Hillsborough and are surprised and even shocked when they discover we sell cannabis products, namely Industrial Hemp products.”

In the State of North Carolina, Industrial Hemp products are defined as products originating from industrial hemp or cannabis that is less than 0.3% dwt in THC (Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). Carolina Hemp Hut specializes in products specifically formulated or grown to be less than the legal limit on THC. “A Trace amount of THC is very beneficial for our customers who are able to have it since it is the only Cannabinoid known to bind with the endocannabinoid receptors in the human body. The only reason someone should avoid THC in this small amount is if they are subject to drug testing where zero tolerance is a factor.”

Carolina Hemp Hut began as a kiosk in the Streets at Southpoint Mall in Durham in 2018 and quickly outgrew their allocated space as they researched and expanded their product offerings to meet customer demands. Now, Carolina Hemp Hut offers over 1000 total SKUs in two stores in the Triangle, their flagship store in Hillsborough and their new store in Durham on 15/501.

“This all started because I needed more healthy options for my husband as he continued to fight a set of malignant tumors in his head. I knew their must be a way for nature to help heal. I’m so glad I found legal cannabis as a solid option for many people to improve their lives by helping with discomfort they face. It’s pretty surprising how many people trust cannabis products from hemp to help on a daily basis. What started as a boost for family members only has grown into a full-time job – helping people across the country with a spectrum of health concerns.”

The Carolina Hemp Hut Hillsborough store has received numerous other accolades recently for their work in the community and their overall service to customers. Carolina Hemp Hut currently operates two store in the Triangle area: 137 Mayo Street in Hillsborough and 4600 Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard in Durham. They ship across the country with orders placed on their website at https://CarolinaHempHut.com.

Does CBD and Hemp Help Fight off COVID19?

Hemp is being considered in many ways as a possible treatment for things such as COVID19, inflammatory diseases and auto-immune diseases.

People are asking, “What can be done about COVID?” Researchers are pushing hard to find out what can be done to boost immunity and fight the disease. Moreover, many people are speculating as to the effectiveness of products containing CBD or hemp oil extract and COVID19 mitigation.

Scientists working for Pathway Rx have published research related to their study of Cannabis (with emphasis on legal hemp and CBD) that shows significant potential as a possible treatment of COVID-19. At the same time, consumer watchdog groups and those interested in blocking cannabis as a health option have been expressing concern over any unproven medical claims related to hemp.

This tug-of-war has been confusing for customers who are seeking natural set of tools to help individual health situations such as immunity boosting, discomfort from pain or anxiety or even insomnia.

It’s important to note that there is only one specific drug containing a high dose of purified cannabidiol (CBD) that has been approved for use as a medical treatment (of a particular set or seizure disorders). While the FDA has made it clear that no business selling cannabinoids and other natural products can make claims as to whether their products actually help people, businesses are able to describe limited aspects of the benefits of the products. Many consumers find many naturally occurring cannabinoids, contained within hemp oil extract products have helped alleviate discomfort. While these are purely anecdotal, people are discovering that Hemp does help.

While hemp oil from hemp seed pressing is not included in the study, hemp oil extract from various Canadian-government approved Industrial hemp strains were. A small portion of this study group proved to be worthy of additional scrutiny.

Einstein Definition of Insanity

Is Hemp ok for COVID19?

Even though the testing is still in place, preliminary findings are positive. Pathways Rx is continuing their study into the various cultivars which are showing promise in reducing the impact of the COVID19 infections.

Data collected from previous studies conducted in collaboration with Swysh and commercial partner Sundial Growers reveals that some medical cannabis cultivars can help reduce the severity and complications of COVID-19 disease

The recent study, written by six researchers, examined 400 Health Canada-approved strains of cannabis. A group of 13 strains that were rated as sativa with a high in CBD concentration may be useful and helpful in reducing the impact of COVID19 infections.

The research paper was submitted recently for peer-review, a vital step in assuring the broader acceptance of cannabis products for acknowledged health benefits. When the reviews have been completed, who knows what will happen with CBD and cannabinoids with COVID19 treatments, given today’s very odd political and emotional environment.

The first study suggests that a limited sample (from the 13 strains) of high CBD Cannabis Sativa extracts modulate ACE2 gene expression and ACE2 protein levels in “gateway tissues of the COVID-19 causing virus and also have the potential to inhibit its entry into cells, curtail disease spread and reduce mortality.” The entire study was conducted using artificial human 3D models of oral, airway, and intestinal tissues.

The second study examines the use of cannabis extracts for taming the cytokine storm will be published soon.

What is Hemp Seed Oil?

What is Hemp Seed Oil

In our earlier article on Hemp Oil, we examined its source and its commonly attributed benefits. We discussed a little about “What exactly is hemp oil?”

We considered it’d be very helpful to present the most commonly asked questions with regard to Hemp Oil and its cousin, Hemp Oil Extract (including CBD).

What is hemp oil good for?

Hempseed oil is often referred to as “hemp oil,” and it’s harvested by cold-pressing hemp seeds. Hemp seeds, as you may already know, are the seeds of the Cannabis plants. In the United States, the most common seed products come from the Cannabis Sativa plants. Hemp seeds have a rich nutrient profile, lots of good fats and fatty acids and carries a wide range of nutrients. Hemp seed oil can help skin health, inflammation, brain & hearth health. Hemp seed oil is a worthy addition into anyone’s diet.

Is hemp oil and CBD oil the same thing?

Hemp Oil is often also called Hempseed Oil. It’s very often confused with Hemp Oil Extract. Although the pressed hemp seeds result in very nutritious and beneficial anti-inflammatory properties in Hemp Oil, they’re NOT the same thing as CBD. Cannabidiol or CBD is just one of the many cannabinboids found within the extract from the flowers and often the stems and leaves (whole plant extract). CBD and the other cannabinoids have shown great promise in assisting with discomfort from many physical and psychological problems.Carolina Hemp Hut offers CBD and Hemp products Near Me

Does Hemp Oil help you sleep?

It’s possible to find retailers claiming that hemp oil aids in sleep or that it makes you sleepy. While the jury is still out on how effective CBD and related cannabinoids are for sleep, there has been no proof that hemp seed extract or hemp oil is useful for improving sleep directly.

Is Hemp Oil safe to take?

Since Hemp Oil is different from CBD and other cannabinoids resulting from the extract of the aerial parts of the Hemp Plant, it’s both readily available and legal in all 50 States. Many people find it useful in salads and recipes as it assists in boosting beneficial Omega fatty acids. As with other diet-related oils, Hemp Oil is safe to take as long as too much is not consumed at one time. This may often result in diarrhea or intestinal discomfort.

What are the benefits of Hemp Oil?

Hemp Seed Oil has a significant amount of naturally occurring linoleic acid and oleic acids. These are known to play a vital role in skin health and anti-aging. Since these cannot be produced by humans naturally, inclusion of hemp seed oil in the diet is beneficial. Hemp Seed oil, however, is exceptional with its inclusion of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory while simultaneously encouraging skin growth and new cell generation. Skin care products containing hemp seed oil are likely to improve skin health better than non-GLA oils.

Is Hemp Oil useful to treat pain?

Hemp Seed Oil may help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as we age. More significant benefits may appear due to the natural anti-inflammatory aspects of the GLA along with the other Omega-3 fatty acids. If you’re suffering from eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, or similar, then hemp seed oil may be an important and helpful weapon in your health arsenal. While the anti-inflammatory properties of hemp oil are wonderful, there’s limited abatement from discomfort in most cases.

I’m sure you’ve heard the old definition of insanity often attributed to Albert Einstein: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.

The real definition of insanity is “the state of being seriously mentally ill; madness.”

This is really boiled down to “Madness” when you consider what insanity really is. Is it madness to keep doing the same things for your health and expect your body to suddenly become “healthier”?

Most people don’t change their health practices at all unless they have a life changing event. A life changing event could be the death of a loved one from some health concern, it could be a dire diagnosis of Cardiovascular disease or Cancer, or it could be a warning of pre-diabetes. It’s still shocking that many people don’t make any changes to their lives EVEN WHEN they get news of some health issue that NEEDS ATTENTION.

Too many of us abdicate or give up our responsibility for self-care. We trust a doctor to give us a pill that will “cure”.

Think about yourself right now, have you accepted the word from a trusted medical authority and received a dire prognosis and a prescription? Then visited the pharmacy and got the prescription filled, went home, and started following the prescription without doing ANYTHING ELSE to adjust your health or your life.

Einstein Definition of Insanity

Natural Health vs Modern Medicine

Doctors ARE trusted authorities and you should take advice from them. But, doctors don’t necessarily cover the spectrum of health solutions. There’s an old adage which goes “To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” What happens when you give a doctor another tool other than a hammer?

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to investigate what health concerns we face most and what things can be done for each without the use of prescriptions and surgeries. This won’t be in any way an insult to the medical profession. Instead, it’s more of a life instruction. Natural Health really starts with YOU making your OWN decisions about YOUR LIFE.

I’m not a trained medical professional. Other than being the son of a doctor and the former husband of a doctor, my medical training consists of helping others in medical school study internal medicine and a little gross anatomy. Of course, I’ve read copiously from many medical studies and journals to learn more about what makes things tick. I trust the advice of learned associates who are medically trained. Plus, I educate from my life experiences.

I’ve been trained under the Ziglar Legacy program as well as the Choose to Win program stemming from the great motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar. I’ve discovered where the positive outlook and goal setting instruments taught within those really shape a more positive outcome with health – when you believe you can do it.

Success for you may just begin right now with identifying your own health problem.

Now’s the time you figure out what you want out of your own life and health. Take a moment and write down what your particular health issue is. If it’s weight, write it down on its own sheet of paper. If it’s Cancer, do the same. If you have others, identify those as well on their own sheet.

In my next article, I’m going to give you the next steps to finding better health success leveraging what a doctor may tell you AND natural health.  Meanwhile, be honest with yourself and take the time to identify the health problem(s) which you may face.

What is Hemp Oil Good for?

what does hemp oil do

What can hemp oil do?

With more people discovering natural health options, more are discovering that oil from the hemp seed is highly nutritious. As you embark upon a more healthy journey in your life, you will also discover that hemp oil has remarkable benefits for your skin health as well. Let’s break down what is hemp oil good for with an inside then outside approach to health.

Hemp Oil from the Inside

Hempseed oil is often referred to as “hemp oil,” and it’s harvested by cold-pressing hemp seeds. Hemp seeds, as you may already know, are the seeds of the Cannabis plants. In the United States, the most common seed products come from the Cannabis Sativa plants. Hemp seeds have a rich nutrient profile, lots of good fats and fatty acids and carries a wide range of nutrients. Hemp seed oil can help skin health, inflammation, brain & hearth health. Hemp seed oil is a worthy addition into anyone’s diet.

The more favorable hemp see oils come from a process known as Cold Pressing. The reason a cold-pressed oil is preferred over oil from other methods (even though it produces less oil) is that the resulting oil has better characteristics and benefits of the seed. It’s been learned that cold pressing produces lower phosphorous levels. You may be happy to learn that phosphorous is  cause of the grassy flavors of some oils. This strong taste found in non-cold pressed oils tends to be the one factor that keeps people from trying out hemp seed oil (hemp oil) as a dietary booster.

A clean hemp seed oil harvested for human use will provide vitamins and fatty acids. Researchers have discovered where  omega-3 fatty acids have significant impacts on the improvement of our health. Some of these impacts may include:

  1. Omega-3s Can Fight Depression and Anxiety
  2. Omega-3s Can Improve Eye Health
  3. Omega-3s Can Promote Brain Health During Pregnancy and Early Life
  4. Omega-3s Can Improve Risk Factors for Heart Disease
  5. Omega-3s Can Reduce Symptoms of ADHD in Children
  6. Omega-3s Can Reduce Symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome
  7. Omega-3s Can Fight Inflammation
  8. Omega-3s Can Fight Autoimmune Diseases
  9. Omega-3s Can Improve Mental Disorders
  10. Omega-3s Can Fight Age-Related Mental Decline and Alzheimer’s Disease
  11. Omega-3s May Help Prevent Cancer
  12. Omega-3s Can Reduce Asthma in Children
  13. Omega-3s Can Reduce Fat in Your Liver
  14. Omega-3s May Improve Bone and Joint Health
  15. Omega-3s Can Alleviate Menstrual Pain
  16. Omega-3 Fatty Acids May Improve Sleep
  17. Omega-3 Fats Are Good For Your Skin

Since hemp oil from the seeds (hemp seed extract) is different from the oil extracted from the flowers, buds and other aerial parts (often called hemp oil extract or sometimes misnamed CBD), it’s regulated differently. Typical hemp seed oil contains no THC, CBD or other cannabinoids in traceable amounts. A respectable hemp seed oil has remarkable quantities of the beneficial Omega-3 while keeping it in a safe ratio with Omega-6 content. Researchers have proposed an ideal ratio of 3 to 1 for Omega-6 to Omega-3 content in dietary oils. Luckily for you, good hemp oil brands (such as those carried by Carolina Hemp Hut) have these ideal ratios.

Internal Health from Hemp Oil

Hemp and Brain Health

It’s believed that the fatty acids available from hemp seed oil may benefit our brains. Brain health relies upon healthy fats to operate smoothly. There have been studies with mice and hemp seed oil which have shown positive impact of the fatty acids from hemp on the health and reduction of inflammation in the brain.

Hemp and Heart Health

There are recent studies revealing a strong linkage between hemp seed oils fatty acids and improved heart health. It’s apparent that more studies are warranted on this. The overall health impact of hemp on cardiovascular disease may be significant.

Hemp and Beauty

Hemp Seed Oil has a significant amount of naturally occurring linoleic acid and oleic acids. These are known to play a vital role in skin health and anti-aging. Since these cannot be produced by humans naturally, inclusion of hemp seed oil in the diet is beneficial.

External Health from Hemp Oil

Natural Moisturizer and Anti-Inflammatory Agent

This is one of the expected benefits of hemp seed oil. People are typically familiar with the moisturizing quality of most oils. Additionally, the price for most Hemp Seed Oils in bulk (just a bottle of oil) is far cheaper than the typical processed oil product from a leading beauty company.

Delving into skin health further reveals studies published that support the use of hemp seed oil in many ways for skin health and reduction of inflammatory discomfort. Sure, Hemp Seed Oil may help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as we age. We will be sure to share new discoveries with you as we uncover them.
