Many people make snap decisions about products based upon myths and fables. Or, they make a decision based upon a rumor.
At the Carolina Hemp Hut stores, the team is well aware of the untruths and lore of cannabis-based products. We get plenty of customers who visit and reveal what they know to be true with cannabis.
“Oh, that’s the Devil’s Lettuce!”
“If it’s cannabis, it’s pot.”
“People only smoke that stuff to get high.”
“That stuff will destroy your liver.”
“CBD? Like pot?”
And, our favorite:
“If God had wanted us to have cannabis, it would grow in the wild, not in a lab!”
(This is especially humous since all cannabis grows pretty much wherever you sow it, provided it is in the proper climate, that’s essentially why it is called weed.)
Time for Myth Busting.
What is CBD and where does it come from?!
CBD (aka Cannabidiol) is a natural compound found in cannabis. This means all cannabis, including hemp, marijuana, pot, weed, Ganja, and similarly named botanical entities (plants) are Cannabis. They may contains 113+ different cannabinoids; the most notable ones are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD. THC and CBD have similar chemical formulae, but the subtle difference in their molecular structure gives each compound their own unique helpful properties.
For beginners, THC and CBD are pretty much the Yin/Yang of the organic chemistry world. THC is psychoactive in sufficient quantities and therapeutic in most administrations. On the other hand, CBD won’t make you high. Instead, CBD not only lessens the stronger psychoactive effects of THC, but more studies may show how therapeutic the botanical elements can be, including CBD and THC.
No matter what condition you seek to address, whether it is inflammation, discomfort from aches and pains or just overall boost in health of your skin, it is a good idea you pick up a little more information about hemp-based products to be a smarter cannabis consumer.
First, there is a slight, but legally significant difference between cannabis types. Because of natural breeding and cross-species breeding the genus cannabis has a lot of crossovers within the various species it has. In 2018, President Donald Trump signed into Federal Law the US Farm Bill (shortened name) which opens CBD and similar Hemp-Based phytocannabinoids for the US consumer. Botanical compounds such as CBD, CBG, CBDa, and many others are legal products now – even though they are from the cannabis plant!
Any easier way to consider cannabis strains and why so many have different characteristics is to relate cannabis to animals such as dogs. Dogs are Canis lupus familiaris. But a small dog is a lot different contrasted with a Great Dane. But, they are both Canis lupus familiaris. Just like Hemp and Marijuana can both be Cannabis Sativa.
Regardless of the CBD product, the FDA doesn’t want a bunch of false claims on cannabis products. Therefore, we always indicate that our CBD topicals are not intended to cure pain or ailments, but as many people have found CBD can help with certain ailments. We also appreciate that most of our customers who ask for guidance on our famed CBD topicals, discover “new favorite” CBD products.
In our shops we use very easy to remember examples and stories to help our customers appreciate the botanical science and common jargon of the cannabis medical use culture. We know many of our customers focus on the strain and species of their products. To them, Cannabis sativa is their perfect “go to” botanical for improving focus and lessening anxiety. To others, the Cannabis indica fits the bill for relaxation and calming coupled with a better response to discomfort from pain. (A third species, Cannabis ruderalis is not quite as common for medical use as the plants are typically very small contrasted with the other two species.)
We also talk terpenes coupled with cannabinoids. It may sound foreign to some, but many terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds which directly improve therapy and health outcomes from their association with the hemp products. This is one way people can select strains and products based upon their terpene profile and COA (certificate of analysis). For example, people know that the linalool (often found in the lavender plant) is found in measurable and beneficial quantities in many hemp products.
Since most of the Carolina Hemp Hut lines are filled with high quality botanicals, we also make sure people understand the ingredients found in the product aside from the phytocannabinoids too. This really makes our dedication to product knowledge and customer service stand out.
We know that many of our hemp seed oil product are higher in omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid (LA) and also contains elevated concentrations of the omega-3 fatty acid α-linolenic acid (ALA). These are beneficial compounds for our overall health plus skin health.
It’s good to about topicals since your skin is your largest organ. You probably buy products frequently that you enjoy because they have a great fragrance, or they have a nice color. You may or perhaps not actually read the label of the topical products which you enjoy. Do you know what’s in the butters, balms, salves, lotions, creams and ointments contain? Do you know the difference among these terms? Really, what’s the difference between a lotion and a salve?
Since body balms, butters, and salves do not contain water, they are called anhydrous formulations. Anhydrous simply means without water. The lack of water also means they do not need a preservative in many cases. In the cases of lotions and creams, the formulations include water. Water allows for cheaper products while ensuring the product spreads and absorbs well. When water is involved with oils, you can guess, they don’t mix.
An emulsion is a fancy way of describing modern lotions and many creams. A simple way of creating an emulsion of sorts is to pour a mixture of oil and water together in a blender, blend for about a minute or so and voila – oil and water are blended, for a short time. Lotions and other topicals in emulsion form typically are created using phased processes for the mixed ingredients (all technical and interesting stuff).
Scientific evidence suggests, but does not prove, that using cannabinoid rich topicals such as Trū CBD Skin Care’s Hair and Face formula. as part of a daily beauty care routine may reduce the inflammation and other causes of discomfort.

As we examine the products in the botanicals Carolina Hemp Hut carries, you may discover we have more salves and butters than we do lotions and creams. This is because the majority of the more concentrated (stronger) CBD topical products manufactured currently are anhydrous (again, this means without water).
We think the biggest difference between a typical lotion and cream is that lotions have a higher water content.
A lotion is typically a mix of water and droplets of oil, is lighter weight than cream, and is non-greasy. Like a lotion, a cream is a blend of oil and water, but with a higher oil concentration (a 50-50 ratio of water and oil).
Creams are thicker in consistency than lotions and provide a barrier that keeps skin ultra-hydrated. Body cream is usually sold in a jar container or tub because of its thickness.
We invite you to take Mary’s advice and take advantage first of this FREE offer AND the opportunity to change your overall health for the better.
The process to better skin, hair and health is a simple process. We suggest that you consider the SIMPLE path.
With everything being so out of the normal routine in the past two years, it is likely that you are having the same difficulties as many others are: You’re not sleeping enough or as well as you did before. As mentioned, you are not alone in this. We have seen many customers in our stores who have sleep issues as their principle complaint.
If you are staring at an LED TV screen or a smartphone screen prior to trying to sleep, then that’s already part of the problem. We recommend that our customers unplug for at least an hour before hitting the hay for rest. Consider reading a book or listening to music or an audiobook instead.
Inflammation can be reduced in so many ways. First, we have inflammation caused by our bodies in response to stress. Additionally, foods we eat and products we place on our bodies create inflammation.
We can reduce inflammation with the aid of better foods coupled with some practical relaxation techniques.
With regard to better foods, it is simpler to reveal that foods (just like skin and hair care products) with FEWER chemicals are often superior. Here’s a simple question that may make this more apparent: Which is healthier, a carrot which has only one ingredient (carrot) or a box of Oreo Cookies?
We understand that the cookies may taste more exciting or pleasing to the majority of us, but Oreos are as healthy for you as eating school glue. In fact, there are some school glues which are likely healthier diet options than Oreos.
One of our consulting physicians often reminds their patients “If the ingredients show any of the following words, consider another product. This one is already designed by a company to harm you…” We have this list and offer it to our customers for free.
Some of the key items to steer clear of include Refined Carbohydrates, added sugars, all trans and saturated fats, red and processed meats, food additives, and alcohol.
Maintenence of a good diet and exercise is important. These two components are a major part of reaching and maintaing better health.
Being practical about your lifestyle is also important to improving your overall health, but especially skin and hair health.
Think about what is really practical for you. Yes, of course you are thinking “dropping sugar from my diet is just not practical!” We understand many of the things that cause us inflammation in our lives also bring us pleasure.
Being practical suggests that you should weigh the benefits of living a healthier life (think about getting out of bed without going “Ugh” or not having a sneezing fit in your allergy season or having to rest after a flight of stairs).
Living a better life will include better health and this will help you stay positive about where you are going in life and how you feel when you get their.
People with clear life goals that include better health achieve those goals far more than those who do not have clear life goals. Set an achievable goal and stick to the path to achieve it.
If you do things to exercise your body while maintaining the rest of these targets, then you are setting yourself up to look better, feel better, and live better than anyone you know.

Do people actually do what we recommend?
Yes, sadly only a few follow through with better options for their health.
“Most people are creatures of habit and they don’t want to change what they do since they’re more comfortable, even if it is harming them. One of the biggest problems is people just don’t want to reduce the level of inflammation since it means reducing sugars, saturated fats, and similar.” Mary Lopez Carter provided in an interview with a local health writer.
The Carolina Hemp Hut team is ready to help our customers discover options for better health.
