What are Flavinoids?

What are the flavinoids in Hemp

Why Flavinoids anyway?

Full spectrum CBD users may be familiar with the “Entourage Effect”, where a variety of compounds found in hemp and cannabis work in concert to regulate our endocannabinoid system.  Having a healthy endocannabinoid system helps our bodies maintain homeostasis.

You may already be familiar with two of these compounds, cannabinoids and  terpenes but you may not be familiar with flavonoids.

Flavinoid: It's Pronounced, "Flay Vin Oid"

Flavonoids are plant pigments that protect plants from harmful UV rays and help regulate plant cells.  There are over 6000 flavonoids known to exist in nature, with hemp and cannabis containing approximately 20. The most common of these are beta-sitosterol, which is known for being anti-inflammatory.  Research shows that beta-sitosterol’s anti-inflammatory properties make it a great choice for treating issues ranging from enlarged prostate and prostate infections to skin allergies and psoriasis. Beta-sitosterol is most commonly used in heart disease and high cholesterol medications, helping limit the amount of cholesterol that enters the body.

Hemp Flower Cigarettes with CBD

hemp flower enthusiasts turning to Hemp Cigarettes in droves due to the more healthy link of Cannabinoids within hemp. People come to us looking for alternatives to their tobacco products.

What's up with Hemp Cigarettes?

There's been a lot of discussion lately on how bad cigarettes with tobacco are and new discussions on hemp flower cigarettes. We're finding hemp flower enthusiasts turning to Hemp Cigarettes in droves due to the more healthy link of Cannabinoids within hemp. People come to us looking for alternatives to their tobacco products.

You don't need a degree in rocket science to know right away that traditional tobacco cigarette smoking is not the best choice for good health. Lung cancer, emphysema and other dire health conditions are possible with tobacco. Hemp has a different aspect when it comes to working with you for your health.  In fact, they're a reasonable alternative to tobacco cigarettes.

Hemp Cigarettes offer a great alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes

Hemp Flower and Lung Health

It's not a good idea for the most part to inhale any smoke. Your lungs are pretty amazing organs and people should consider keeping them clean for as long as possible. That's why so many parenting groups and advocates will warn parents and children to steer clear of cigarettes (especially tobacco) in general. Inhaled products such as vaping and similar are also suspect when it comes to how our lungs react.

Your lungs can be very badly affected by smoking. Coughs, colds, wheezing and asthma are just the start. Smoking can cause fatal diseases such as pneumonia, emphysema and lung cancer. Smoking causes 84% of deaths from lung cancer and 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Although CBD and Cannabinoids are present in Hemp Cigarettes, the fact is that smoking itself is still a primary factor in damaging lung health for many.

A Reasonable Alternative to Tobacco Cigarettes

Investigators at the University of New South Wales assessed the relationship between cannabis, tobacco, and combined cannabis-tobacco use and various health outcomes in 350 subjects age 40 and older.

It was discovered that the health impact compared to the benefit of the cannabinoids was not nearly as bad as when you compare cigarette smoking and its impact on health. To make the entire summary very short: Smoking harms, but hemp helps while it has some harm.

One of the key takeaways from this study and others is that hemp cigarettes, when smoked INSTEAD of tobacco products help smokers reduce their addiction to nicotine while boosting the response from the endocannabinoid system in the body.

If you're going to Smoke, consider Cannabinoids in Hemp

It's just like with food products, if you're going to over-eat, it's better to over-eat apples and oranges rather than Fritos and Big Macs. While too much of a good thing is not a good thing, having something that's beneficial while you're engaged in something that is potentially self-harming, may be better overall for some. When smoking hemp or taking hemp products (not hemp oil but hemp oil extracts which contain CBD and other beneficial cannabinoids, terpenoids and more), you're going to be adding compounds which have been shown to work within the body to improve health and reduce discomfort.

Why Hemp?

Many smokers are switching to hemp cigarettes since Hemp has an enjoyable taste while still providing an option to easing tobacco addiction.

CBD Products under Scrutiny by Researchers

Isn't CBD Oil just Another Form of "Snake Oil"?

It's amazing how many people have been deeply conditioned to believe that all things hemp are illegal and/or bad for you. Our government, for years, stood by the premise that hemp products are not helpful for us and they're not legal. When this set of laws got a "comeuppance" with the last Farm Bill, we saw a steady rise in acceptance of Hemp Extract and related products. Mainly it's due to the very clear understanding of many that CBD does HELP.

It's a good thing to do some basic research and learn that CBD is being studied as a potential "official" treatment for maladies as diverse as schizophrenia, insomnia and cancer. We've heard reports of people with conditions such as autism, PTSD, overall anxiety and others are ALSO successful with the use of CBD and Hemp Oil.

We love highlighting one study associated with PTSD coordinated by Dr. Esther Blessing, an assistant professor at the New York University School of Medicine. She's coordinated a study of CBD as an effective treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and other related illnesses.

One aspect of CBD that has been underscored in a number of studies is that it's not easy to find the "overdose" point with CBD. A general result from taking too much CBD has been general malaise or short term GI distress. But this is typically found only with extreme dosing (greater than 3000mg at a dose for example).

As a handy resource for you and your friends, please consider sharing the handy database for the National Institutes of Health database. With this database, you can find more than 150 of studies involving CBD as a treatment for many different health situations.

You'll be pleased to learn that even our government has proven that CBD and Hemp Oil are effective in helping eliminate discomfort for so many people. Use the recent approval of Epidiolex by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as an oral solution for the treatment of seizures associated with two rare and severe forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, in patients two years of age and older. This is the first FDA-approved drug that contains a purified drug substance derived from marijuana. It is also the first FDA approval of a drug for the treatment of patients with Dravet syndrome.

Plus, if you're worried about addiction and related problems, Administration of a therapeutic dose of CBD (750 mg) showed significantly low abuse potential in a highly sensitive population of polydrug users. So far, other studies show little to no addiction among Cannabidiol users.

Will CBD Help with Anxiety?

It's acknowledged that Speaking In Public is one of the most common fears behind death and dying. If you were asked to go to the front of an auditorium and present information about a product or service your company is offering, you'd likely feel a wave of nervousness.

This is very common.

You may find that CBD does work and has been shown to help reduce anxiety. This could hold true for things such as:

  • Test Anxiety
  • Deal Negotiations
  • Public Speaking
  • Agoraphobia

As researchers continue their journey to determine the benefits and the drawbacks of compounds such as CBD, we will continue to report on it.

Your Pets with CBD – Helping Humans

Pets enjoy good health with the aid of CBD and Hemp Oil

If Drug Companies have their way, you can expect a BUNCH of cures for what ails your pets. Also, expect it to be expensive.

Some of the cures are coming in the form of cannabis drugs. You may have read my earlier post on CBD and your pets. It's a proven fact that CBD has been useful for treating many conditions with Fido and Fluffy. Since the placebo effect isn't factored with your pets, improvement in their respective health situations shows us the favorable use of CBD for pets.

Do you have a pet? Has your pet shown signs of ill health? Arthritis, seizures, and other conditions, as with humans, have afflicted dogs, cats and other animals. The cures from our pharmaceutical companies have helped many of our pets. Further research and testing with CBD and other cannabinoids has shown even more promise for pet cures. But at what cost to consumers?

Pharmaceutical companies are likely to package something natural, such as CBD oil extract (a simple cannabinoid extract from the Hemp plant) along with other (proprietary) chemicals to make a more marketable product. Often, the added chemicals to the CBD are unnecessary for the drug to be effective. But the added chemicals make the drug suitable for patent protection - and added revenue for the drug companies. If you "juice" a natural product, you can charge more for it.

It's great that the discoveries of cures for pets have been leading to helping people. Let's be sure that the natural products remain available for pets and people alike.
