Carolina Hemp Hut Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Pink Ribbon, Community, and Healing
Healing, not the high: community, not just commerce,

When it comes to Cancer Research, We're involved. Join Us!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM)—a time marked by the Pink Ribbon Campaign to remind us of the importance of education, research, early detection, and community support in the fight against breast cancer. At Carolina Hemp Hut, we are honored to stand with this mission, not just during October, but all year long.
Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month is more than just a campaign for us. It is deeply personal. Mary Lopez Carter, the founder of Carolina Hemp Hut, has walked closely alongside cancer patients and survivors. Her husband, David Pratt Carter, is a long-time brain cancer fighter and survivor. His courage and determination inspire everything we do as a team and as a store. In addition, Mary has family members and close friends who have faced their own battles with cancer. This makes the Pink Ribbon Campaign especially meaningful to the Carolina Hemp Hut family.
Cancer is a journey no one should walk alone.
Why Carolina Hemp Hut Supports the Pink Ribbon Campaign
Carolina Hemp Hut has always been different from typical retail shops that sell hemp-related products. Too often, hemp gets lumped in with vape shops or smoke shops that focus on trends rather than true wellness. But Carolina Hemp Hut was built on a mission of healing, education, and community service.
For years, we’ve partnered with local organizations to strengthen the community. For example:
We’ve donated to and supported the Snow Approach Foundation, an organization dedicated to dementia and senior care education.
We’ve contributed to the Rape Crisis Center of Orange County, helping provide resources for survivors and their families.
We’ve been frequent participants in Hillsborough’s Hog Day festival and the Hillsborough Holiday Parade, meeting people where they are and sharing education about natural health and healing.
We regularly provide smaller donations to local charities, fundraisers, and schools because we believe wellness is about more than individual health—it’s about collective health.
Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a natural extension of this mission. Cancer affects everyone—families, neighborhoods, and entire communities. When one person battles cancer, we all feel the ripple effect. That’s why the Carolina Hemp Hut team is proud to raise awareness, stand in solidarity, and highlight the importance of the Pink Ribbon Campaign.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Why It Matters
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is recognized every October worldwide. The campaign promotes:
Education on prevention and detection: Encouraging women and men to learn about breast health, screening options, and early detection.
Support for survivors and their families: Celebrating the courage of those who have battled breast cancer and offering strength to families who walk this path with them.
Research and funding: Raising money for research that leads to improved treatments and ultimately, cures.
Community awareness: Turning towns pink with ribbons, events, and shared stories that remind us all how important this cause is.
At Carolina Hemp Hut, we recognize that breast cancer doesn’t happen in isolation—it touches lives in the same way our mission of holistic healing and natural wellness aims to support lives. That’s why we’ve chosen to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Pink Ribbon Campaign.
How Carolina Hemp Hut is Different
It’s worth noting that few stores like ours take on causes like BCAM. You might find convenience stores or vape shops focusing only on sales. But Carolina Hemp Hut is not just a store—it is a community hub for wellness education, healing products, and holistic health practices.
Mary and her team have built Carolina Hemp Hut to be a place where people can come with questions about their health, learn about natural and botanical options, and feel supported in their journey. Unlike other retailers, we don’t just sell products—we invest in the community. Our contributions to local charities, wellness education, and now the Pink Ribbon Campaign reflect that difference.

Standing Together Against Cancer
Mary Lopez Carter knows firsthand the emotional, financial, and physical toll that cancer brings. As a caregiver to her husband, a brain cancer survivor, and as a friend and family member to others who have faced cancer, she understands the importance of community support.

That’s why the Carolina Hemp Hut team is proud to support not only Breast Cancer Awareness Month but also every effort that uplifts and empowers those touched by cancer. From our Hog Day booths to our Holiday Parade floats, from local donations to the Pink Ribbon Campaign, our mission remains the same: healing, not the high—community, not just commerce.
