Delta-8: Is it Helpful for your Health?

Delta 8 Hemp for Health

Delta-8: Sinful or Helpful for your Health?

Most people in the United States have not heard of Delta-8. It is, however, becoming a very popular cannabis product in hemp/CBD stores across the country where they are legal. The people who appreciate the advent of Delta-8 in the marketplace are growing in number. The people who decry the use of anything cannabis are becoming more vocal.

What is Delta-8?

We will start here with what Delta-8 is NOT. It is not Delta-9. Both are forms of tetrahydrocannabinol. Delta-8 is an analogue of Delta-9. As you may know, D9 is an illegal cannabinoid at the Federal level across the country. Even though it is illegal in the United States and a Schedule 1 drug (why it still is classified as Sched 1 is beyond us), it is legal of adult use in many States already. Delta-8, however, when it is derived from Industrial Hemp, is legal in the United States

Since Delta-8 products are similar to Delta-9 but not the same there are notable differences in how Delta-8 affects people as compared to Delta-9.

How can Delta-8 be Used?

So far, we have experienced most our customers seek out Delta-8 products specifically for sleep. People consistently claim CBD AND Delta-8 have helped improve their length of sleep and quality of sleep.

Many people have discovered better sleep using cannabinoids. For those with modest sleep issues, such as occasional sleeplessness or anxiety which causes sleep to be more erratic, modest doses of CBD have been helpful to relieve the discomfort from stress and anxiety and this helps people ease into better sleep. When the discomfort is higher from more sleeplessness or higher anxiety, customer are using a combination of CBD and Delta-8. This drastically improves the level of anxiety and discomfort and helps boost sleep outcomes.

The following statistics from the Sleep Association help underscore the need for more natural options with lack of sleep issues.

discomfort from knee pain
Sleep may be much better with the aid of CBD

Sleep Deprivation Statistics:

37% of 20-39 year-olds report short sleep duration

40% of 40-59 year-olds report short sleep duration

35.3% adults report <7 hours of sleep during a typical 24-hour period.

Delta-8 and its analgesic properties are very useful to consumers who face persistent pain and do not wish to engage opiates for pain relief. Not only does the Delta-8 require a prescription to consumer, it also does not suffer the same limitations at opiates as far as over-dose levels. The risk of death from overdose with opiates used for pain is far greater than with cannabinoids. In fact, there have been no documented direct deaths from consumption of Delta-8 products. This is a significant reason why so many people are switching from prescription opiates to cannabis products.

There are other benefits claimed for Delta-8 which include anti-emetic qualities, appetite suppression (orexigenic) and neuroprotective behavior.

The US Farm Bill (2018) and Legal Cannabinoids

Since 2018, Industrial Hemp processors have been allowed to produce cannabinoid products from Industrial Hemp as it the content of Delta-9 THC does not exceed 0.3% (by dwt). This means more minor cannabinoids such as the Delta-8

US Farm Bill 2018 industrial hemp

Since all legal Delta-8 is derived from Hemp plants, it bypasses the stipulation of any THC being derived from marijuana plants (which, by reasonable definition, is still cannabis sativa, the very same plant that produces Industrial Hemp).

The Sinful Nature of Delta-8 and your Health

Cannabis naysayers are quick to describe the evils of the psychoactive behaviors of cannabinoids. Even though there are relatively few cannabinoids that actually have psychoactive properties, those who are against all things cannabis use the few friends of THC as examples of compounds that are destined to destroy our civilization – or something like that.

When it comes to pharmaceutical products, most firms will reference a list of “side effects” when the side effects are actually more of “direct effects”. With Cannabis products, we try to educate our customers across the spectrum of direct effects and health impacts of cannabinoids.

One common direct effect of Delta-8, much like other THC brethren, is the dry mouth. This is why we typically recommend to Delta-8 consumers to hydrate well. Additionally, even though the incidence appears to be far less than that associated with Delta-9, there are people who experience bouts of paranoia with Delta-8. Linked closely to this is the possibility of increased anxiety rather than decreased as you’d expect in the more modest cannabinoids such as CBD.

Cannabidiol (CBD) does not have any psychoactive properties. Most of the opponents of cannabis products still do not support the use of CBD as a curative or beneficial compound. Numerous studies and hoards of anecdotal testimony suggest that CBD along with many other cannabinoids are still exceptional targets for more in-depth testing and research into overall efficacy and impact on human health. Delta-8, like Delta-9, is in the same group: Does the collection of benefits (which is significant) outweigh the psychoactive nature of THC compounds?

The Helpful Nature of Delta-8 and your Health

Recreational and medical fans of Delta-8 are quick to report that the direct effects of larger doses of Delta-8 include the mild euphoria, uplifted mindset, happiness, and relief from the discomfort of pain, aches and other troubling conditions. When taken within two hours of intended sleep, most consumers are satisfied with the improved sleep they experience without the same drowsy impact of some OTC medications and pharmaceuticals.

As the Delta-8 compound does bind with the CB1 and CB2 receptors (perhaps not as energetically as regular Delta-9), it is believed that it is also a key agent in improving cancer treatment outcomes. This is important as more studies into the medical impact of botanical agents such as CBD, THC and Delta-8 are still vital to help settle the ongoing dispute as to whether Cannabis should be considered an herb, a medicine, or a drug.

What is the Best Way to enjoy Delta-8?

Full Service cannabis stores in States across the country are able to offer Delta-8 alongside other cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG, CBC, and more – all as long as they are derived from Industrial Hemp and compliant with the 2018 Farm Bill.

When Delta-8 products started breaking into the popular culture, it did so in the States more energetically where Delta-9 was illegal. Therefore, States such as North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia embraced the delta-8 products being developed. Vape cartridges and edibles were the first big categories to embrace the Delta-8 distillates.

A fair representation of users of CBD vape products learned that combining the CBD vape sessions with occasional Delta-8 sessions may help ease anxiety and help promote relaxation more than just one of the cannabinoids used as a solo treatment.

This same discovery has applied to the hemp edibles crowd who have enjoyed more relaxation thanks to CBD’s calming impact for anxiety. When a small amount of Delta-8 is introduced, such as under 10mg, the CBD appears to be boosted while overall relaxation improves without introducing a “high” feeling.

Experiencing Delta-8 Products at Carolina Hemp Hut

Delta-8 products started growing in popularity in late Summer 2020. During the COVID-19 concerns for immune health, people were experiencing higher than typical levels of anxiety. Limited sleep, irritability and other symptoms were also presenting more commonly. Our stores saw far more online orders (for safety reasons) of our wide array of CBD/Hemp edibles and vape products for the negative health impacts from the pandemic. As the Delta-8 products moved from a “suspicious” product to a “go to” product for the discomfort people were facing, it grew rapidly in popularity.

Some weeks, the Delta-8 sales of products such as Edibles, Vapes, Infused Flower, and topicals exceed the popularity of the benchmark CBD products. When polled, most customers reveal that the goal of consuming Delta-8 is NOT the high, but relief from three key issues:

  • Sleeplessness/Insomnia
  • High Anxiety
  • Body Aches/Pains
Vegan and Organic CBD rich gummy bears - edibles- from Sun State Hemp and Carolina Hemp Hut

When customers seek products for relief of the above bullets of discomfort, we always explain the differences in the two cannabinoids CBD and Delta-8 as well as provide a direct warning as to the possibility of some psychoactive impact with larger doses of Delta-8.

We are encouraged that most consumers are seeking relief from discomfort rather than a “high”. We, as a team, work to eliminate the stereotypes of cannabis that have evolved from years of government embargo on natural medicines (from cannabis). Our goals include educating consumers on ALL available cannabinoids to permit not only broader acceptance of botanical solutions, but to dispel the many myths associated with cannabis as a plant and product.

Some last thoughts on Delta-8 and You

It is key to mention that the level of medical and scientific research with regard to Delta-8 and a host of other cannabinoids is still lacking. Government funding is nearly non-existent. Big Pharma, except for GW (who is attempting to corner the market on all things cannabis it would seem), is resistant to adopting cannabis compounds in their drug therapies at this time, but more are considering it.

More testing, both anecdotal and clinical, will help determine the overall strength of safe doses, the impact on the body and brain, and possible drug interactions. Much like any other cannabis product or cannabinoids (such as the cannabinoids in Echinacea), your body’s own chemistry and metabolic action will have an impact on your overall dosing and health impact.

Do You Really know the STRENGTH of your CBD Oil? (CBD Oil Mini Review)

We help you find the true strength of your CBD

Your Bottle reads “500mg”, right? What does this mean? Does it mean that the bottle actually contains 500 mg of CBD? Is it just 500 mg of true hemp oil extract combined with MCT Oil? What is that strength of YOUR hemp oil? David Pratt Carter guest presents for Mary Lopez Carter in today’s Hemp Day Video.

This video covers three common hemp oil extract products and shows their “hemp oil calculations” based upon their supplement facts found on each of their products.

Many people do not know the strength of the hemp oil extract they are taking. Further, people may not realize the COST PER Milligram of the CBD that they are taking.

It’s true that hemp oils all have subtle or wildly different tastes. When you ignore taste and look only at the strength of the hemp oil based upon the amount of CBD and the other “entourage” of cannabinoids, then you’re able to get a better baseline comparison of products.

We’re not covering Charlotte’s Web or Koi in this video but we may in a future video. There are some amazing and effective CBD products on the market so we’re not going to bash any products that you may be using. We’re covering the strengths of several products and showing the cost per milligram.

You may be familiar with some of the products shown. If you find something uncomfortable about what is said, feel free to comment. For example, one product may be your favorite and you may feel that you’re uncomfortable because something may be said which is negative about it. That’s fine. Leave your comment.

We’re giving each product a fair shake and comparing them based upon the information on their products – no hearsay involved. No rumor. Just product information and other facts.

Hemp Day Video: Drug Testing could Get you Fired for CBD, Learn what to do First!

What happens when you get Drug Tested when taking CBD?

What Can Your HR Department do?

Let’s say you’re working for Corporate America. No harm there, unless your organization has a habit of doing drug testing. The typical drug test seeks to discover whether you’re taking illegal drugs such as Cocaine, Meth, Marijuana and CBD.

Wait, what?

Not really. CBD or Cannibidiol isn’t actively targeted in the drug testing in nearly all test kits available. However, most of us know that THC is the targeted “drug” from Hemp or Marijuana. The people who take the time to understand the biology associated with Hemp understand that CBD is NOT the psychoactive component within the Hemp plant.

It’s been shown where THC is beneficial to our health. This article isn’t to sing the praises of THC, but I suggest that you search within Google or another search engine for benefits of THC from medical publications (use PubMed in the search string).

Mary Lòpez Carter has been advocating for broader acceptance of CBD in the workplace. Because some CBD products contain THC (legal limit of .3% THC), it’s possible some drug tests will “pop” for showing THC in your system. Are you a drug user at this point? Not really. You have part of the overall spectrum of cannabinoids in your system. CBD = Good. THC = Bad. According to the law.

As mentioned before, THC has been shown to be beneficial (visit the reports). But if you have it in your system, you could be in dire straights with your employer if you test positive for it – including when your CBD has a very small amount of THC in it. How can you avoid the trouble of CBD (especially the “full spectrum oils which also include THC in trace amounts)?

Proactive Steps for You to Follow

It’s Key to Be Proactive.

  1. Speak with your Medical Professional and Get a Note detailing you’re taking CBD Oil.
  2. Inform your HR department (great if done in writing, paper trail) and show the Dr. Note.
  3. Buy trusted CBD Oil that may be full spectrum, but offers below the legal limit of .3% THC

In my video, I mentioned a very exciting product coming soon to Hemp Oil Rockstar. It’s a No THC Full Spectrum offering. For those of you who are purists in the terminology, you’re likely to argue that “No, this is broad spectrum” and you may be correct from your viewpoint. We’re glad that there’s technology that allows for the full entourage effect without people worrying over whether they will “pop” in drug tests. Be on the look out soon for our Zero THC products at Hemp Oil Rockstar and Carolina Hemp Huts.

Buy CBD from Legitimate and Tested CBD providers, not from Scammers like Brighten CBD and Star CBD

This is the standard sample image changed all the time by the scammer with CBD

Are you Following the Scammers in the CBD World?

Well, it may not be illegal, but it is unfair: Some companies use Google ads to promote CBD. Those that do this are breaking the rules set by Google. When a company does this, it’s unfair since the marketplace is pretty much empty due to Google’s Rules. When the rules are in place and everyone follows the same set of rules, it creates a balanced marketplace. When a company such as those selling Brighten CBD are cheating, it unbalances the marketplace.

If you consider the 300mg CBD Isolate a bargain at $60 or $50, then you’re in good shape. Watch this video. If you think that a company should be transparent and detail what Organic Certification should be then you should shy away from companies such as Brighten CBD and others that are under the same umbrella of deceit. David Pratt Carter filled in today for Mary Lòpez Carter as she has been preparing for Black Friday deals in her Carolina Hemp Hut store in Durham North Carolina. CBD and Hemp Oil Sales have been going really well for her and she’s not about to stop her good work while she has a trusty stand in for her video.

David researched more on the “scams” with CBD Trials and found that one of the biggest scammers (those behind the names of Star CBD, Brighten CBD and others) are still at their nefarious game. David calls them out by showing what they’re doing to cheat the system and make things unfair to legitimate and likely higher quality CBD and Hemp Oil extract salespeople and retailers across the country. CBD to buy should be pretty straight forward and even keeled. When we find people cheating with the product quality or similar, count on the folks at Hemp Oil Rockstar to speak up.

Hemp Day Video: What is CBD/Hemp Oil Extract?

“I see you have CBD, what is that?”

At our Main retail store for Carolina Hemp Hut (Located in the Streets at Southpoint Mall in Durham, NC), I get a lot of customer queries. One of the most popular questions I get asked is “What is CBD Oil or Hemp Oil?”

I’m happy to answer this question and I hope to dispel some myths about CBD and Hemp Oil.

Note: The new store’s Grand Opening (Oct 27) Celebration is open to all as it is designed to let people know about not only the store, but about what Hemp Oil MAY offer to people. We still operate the website for the store (https://CarolinaHempHut.com) and the main store site at https://hempoilrockstar.com If you’re curious about CBD Oil and #HempOil extracts, then I’m hoping this video will present a primer for you and your friends.

Please, consider sharing this information with family and friends. We have all too many people thinking that CBD or Hemp products are absolutely illegal and this is UNTRUE! Further, with the likely form of the new farm bill (McConnell amendment) and the lean from President Trump, we’re more likely to see a wave of CBD usage across the country.

Mary Carter, Hemp Oil consultant, covers three key questions that you should ask before buying your CBD/Hemp Oil from any retailer. These three simple questions will help you become more aware of the quality available in Hemp Oil. Mary’s learned that these three questions will assist any buyer of Hemp Oil to be better aware of the product and not as easily fall for bad product sales.

Mary Carter presents the 3 Key Questions You should Ask

If you’re not able to see the video, you may try viewing it here on Hemp Oil Rockstar’s Facebook page.

Choosing The Best Hemp Oil

I’ve often told the story about how I selected the best hemp oil extract for my retail stores. There truly are a lot of hemp oils available on the market. Some are horrible and really a waste of money and others are super-premium all around.

The three questions I used within the Hemp Day video are just three of the many questions and qualifiers that I followed when it came to deciding on the best product mix. I’ll likely make a full video of the process I followed. In the interim, be sure to check out all of my Hemp Day Videos and come in to the Streets at Southpoint Mall and visit with us at our Store Kiosk, “The Carolina Hemp Hut”.

Hemp Day Video: Drug Testing and CBD Oil from Hemp

Passing a Drug Test is a worry? What will a Urine Test reveal?

Are you worried about whether you will pass a Drug Test after taking Hemp Oil with CBD? Have you heard about the horror stories of people getting penalized because they’re not smoking pot but taking Hemp Oil for aches, pains or some other condition of discomfort – and they’re worried about the drug test at work? There are a 6 points you need to know about this worry.

I’ll help you understand where the pitfalls are and what you can do to avoid trouble from this “simple misunderstanding” – Don’t be penalized for doing something that is NOT ILLEGAL.

Don’t let Your CBD healthy and Legal Habit get you into Legal Trouble

A urinary test procedure for identification of cannabidiol in patients undergoing medical therapy with marijuana

Marijuana is classified by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) as Schedule I, drugs having no accepted medical value. Twenty-three states and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana. This conflict inhibits physicians from prescribing marijuana and the systematic study of marijuana in medical care. This study concerns the use of the clinical laboratory as a resource for physicians recommending cannabidiol (CBD) to patients, or for patients using medical marijuana. Marijuana containing delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is psychoactive.

However, CBD is not psychoactive. CBD is reported to have medical benefit for seizure control, neurologic disorders including multiple sclerosis, neuropathic pain and pain associated with cancer.

It was revealed that the studies DID SHOW that CBD with trace THC can caused positives even though the user is taking CBD legally and the THC within that Hemp Oil is well within the legal limits of .3%. This information may be rendered moot should President Donald Trump sign into law a passed Farm Bill (2018) which includes the intact amendment from Mitch McConnell (R-Ky). More on this topic will be reported by the team at Hemp Oil Rockstar.
